E-waste items are disassembled manually or using automated equipment. This involves removing screws, casings, and other parts to access the internal components. Disassembly may be done by skilled technicians to ensure proper removal of components.

During disassembly, valuable components and materials such as circuit boards, batteries, copper wiring, and precious metals (like gold and silver) are extracted for recycling.

If the e-waste contains devices like computers or smartphones, data destruction is a critical step to ensure that sensitive information is not compromised. Hard drives and storage devices are securely wiped or physically destroyed to prevent data breaches.

Some electronic devices contain hazardous materials, such as lead, mercury, and certain chemicals. These materials need to be carefully separated and disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations to prevent harm to human health and the environment.

Larger components like plastic casings and non-recyclable parts are often shredded into smaller pieces for further processing.

The shredded materials are further reduced in size through processes like grinding or crushing. This prepares them for downstream separation and refining.

Advanced technologies, such as magnetic separation, eddy current separation, and air classification, are used to separate different materials based on their properties.

Recovered materials undergo refining and purification processes to meet the quality standards required for reuse in manufacturing new electronic products.

The processed materials are sold to manufacturers who use them as raw materials for producing new electronics. Some components might also be refurbished and resold.

Any residual materials that cannot be recycled or repurposed are disposed of responsibly, following relevant approved guidelines advised by Dubai Municipality to support zero landfills.
