Destruction
Secure Data Destruction & Hard Disk Disposal in the UAE
Three proven methods — shredding, degaussing, and wiping — applied to the right media, with documented chain of custody and a per-serial destruction certificate.
How we work
How We Handle Your Waste
A clear, auditable chain of custody from your site to final disposition.
Collection
Scheduled or on-demand pickup from client site, using our GCC-wide fleet.
Transport
Licensed collection and transport to our Dubai Industrial City facility (or Sohar, Oman for Oman-based clients).
Destruction / Treatment
For data carriers: physical shredding to particle sizes below 6mm (hard disks, SSDs, tapes, smartcards, optical media), degaussing at 11,000+ gauss (magnetic media), or software wiping using DoD 5220.22-M (3-pass) or NIST 800-88 Clear/Purge protocols (reusable drives) — all NIST 800-88 aligned. For other material streams, treatment/recycling per the relevant licensed activity.
Documentation
Certificate of Data Destruction issued, including asset serial number, media type, destruction method, destruction date and location, operator ID, witness signature, and applicable standard reference (NIST 800-88 or DoD 5220.22-M), alongside our ISO/IEC 21964:2018 certification.
Hard Disk Shredding
Physical shredding into millimetre-scale particles — the gold standard when zero recoverability is the only acceptable outcome.
- ✓Absolute data security
- ✓Compliance with global regulations
- ✓Visual verification of destruction
Hard Disk Degaussing
A controlled magnetic field scrambles the disk's data domains in seconds. Reliable, fast, suited to magnetic media.
- ✓Secure erasure in seconds
- ✓Quick batch throughput
- ✓Suited to magnetic media
Hard Disk Wiping
Software-based overwriting using the 3- or 7-pass DoD 5220.22-M standard, allowing the drive to be safely reused afterward.
- ✓Cost-effective
- ✓Drive remains reusable
- ✓Selective per-partition erasure
DoD 5220.22-M
The data erasure standard we wipe to
The widely adopted Department of Defense overwrite pattern, available in 3-pass and 7-pass configurations.
- 1Pass 1 — overwrite all addressable locations with binary zeroes
- 2Pass 2 — overwrite all addressable locations with binary ones
- 3Pass 3 — overwrite all addressable locations with a random bit pattern

Data destruction — common questions
What methods do you use for secure data destruction?
ClearEarth uses three NIST 800-88 aligned methods: (1) Physical shredding to particle sizes below 6 mm for hard disks, SSDs, tapes, smartcards and optical media; (2) Degaussing with 11,000+ gauss field strength for magnetic media; (3) Software wiping using DoD 5220.22-M (3-pass) or NIST 800-88 Clear/Purge protocols for reusable drives.
Can data destruction be performed on-site at our facility?
Yes. ClearEarth operates mobile shredding trucks equipped with industrial cross-cut shredders and degaussers. On-site service is available across the UAE and on scheduled routes in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Witnessed destruction with live video and signed chain-of-custody is standard.
What is a Certificate of Data Destruction and what does it include?
A Certificate of Data Destruction is a tamper-evident document confirming irreversible destruction of specified media. ClearEarth certificates include each asset's serial number, media type, destruction method (shred / degauss / wipe), destruction date and location, operator ID, witness signature, and reference to the applicable standard (NIST 800-88 or DoD 5220.22-M).
